Dealing with Nerve Pain After a Stroke

Hello, last year, I had a stroke in the thalamus part of my brain and now I deal with constant nerve pain primarily in my hand and arm. I’m roughly 6 months in and I take a ton of Gabapentin to deal with the pain but it doesn’t help enough. Anyone have any thoughts on a medication or treatment I can switch to? Maybe Gabapentin isn’t the answer. I just need the pain to stop! 🥺

I was taking Gabapentin last year to treat my pain as well, but it stopped working. From what I know you can build up tolerance to the medication. I suggest asking your doctor about maybe switching to Pregabalin instead. It's a very similar medication that's been working for me so far.

Gabapentin made my condition so much worse. It caused seizures and uncontrollable body shaking. I was switch to Cymbalta.
