Dealing with Pica Addiction: How to Stop Cravings for Non-Food Items

I suffer from a condition apparently called pica where I am addicted to eating non food items such as chalk, ice, white dirt, red dirt, talcum powder, drywall, paint chips, cement, soil. What can I do to constantly curve these cravings 😩 πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈ

Have you had a complete physical? You may be missing certain nutrients in your diet. I'm not saying that's the reason but you have to start somewhere

honestly eating ice isn't the worst thing in the world! try just crunching a whole bunch of ice. Is it the flavor you like? Is it the texture? There are probably ways you could emulate flavors/textures with actual food so you're at least eating something your body can digest

it's more of a texture thing I can say. I do know eating tons of ice can cause serious problems with anemia that I already have heavy.

This sounds like it could be quite the burden. When i was younger I loved to chew ice but eventually few out of it. I saw a resource about pica food alternatives and it said attempting to replace items with a similar texture. You probably have already seen this info but since i looked it up I will share: - Rice / Apple paper - Nori - Edible sand/mud - licorice wood - dental grade chewing items you cannot swallow

Your body eats non-edible items as attempts to get vitamins/nutrients from those items. Identify what those are, and hopefully that can solve the craving?
