Dealing with Social Anxiety and Loneliness

I need advice. I have really bad social anxiety to the point where it's hard to talk to people online. I am very lonely and have no friends irl so I would like to join communities online and things but it's too difficult to talk to people directly. Even just posting on here is scary because I'm afraid I sound stupid or something. 😃 I'm terrified of what others opinions on me is and it's stupid but I can't help it. Is there a way to make these thoughts go away?

You’re definitely not stupid- I get anxious and paranoid when I post anything online or when I try to talk to someone online. I honestly haven’t found anything that has helped yet though 🙃

I'm so sorry it's hard :(. But hey at least we know I we aren't the only one going through this. Thank you 💖

Yeah it was a bit of a relief when I saw your message- I thought I was weird because I could never bring myself to even post on social media because of my stupid brain

I feel the same way! I have a really hard time talking to people as well, recently I joined a big discord of a bunch of random people that just like talking and becoming friends, I could probably send you the link if you’d like

I have no advice. I just heavily relate.

I definitely feel that, you’re not alone in fearing feeling stupid posting something online. I haven’t found a way to make these thoughts go away, but it helps me to distract myself after i’ve posted something so I at least don’t ruminate about it.

I relate a lot too, same reason i’m here and i’m scared to even comment!! but the best advice that has actually helped me is challenge your social anxiety in ways that aren’t overwhelming: take baby steps, because they really do add up. i wish the best for you!
