It's not childish at all! Many people are sensitive to sounds like that. You may just be a neurodivergent person. I personally am very sensitive to lights and too much activity around me. When I am in an area that is busy with people or under flouresent lights, I tend to have more anxiety attacks. There are apps and different techniques that can help with grounding that help people get through anxiety and panic attacks if you feel like that might help.

I love the sound of rain! I despise the sound of thunder right above me. Especially if it's very sudden. Not only am I sensitive to sounds, loud noises combined with Anxiety is never a good mix. Something that has helped me is a pair of cheap headphones. So I can still kinda hear what's going on around me, but the loud or sharp noises are muffled.
