Dealing with Unexpected Depressive Episodes

Does anyone ever get depressive episodes? I’m diagnosed with depression, but by episodes i mean your day is going so well then suddenly you’re triggered or it just all comes at once and you start crying or lose all your energy. I’ve had this happen literally hours before an event when i’m supposed to be getting ready. How do y’all deal with unexpected moments like this? :/

Yes. I deal with it frequently. Talking it through with a trusted friend helps

Yes, like right now. I'm in California ( aka "Homeless Central" ) & am scared AF that I'm going to end up like that. I contacted HUD but their waiting list is closed so I'm going to try another state which is fine w/me bcuz I'm sick of living here. My brother keeps reminding me to contact them ( HUD) since our dad, whom I live w/isn't going to be around forever. I just start overthinking & feel paralyzed.

Yes for sure. It sucks because I feel lied to in a way. Any time I feel like things are getting the smallest amount better it just gets pulled out from under.

Absolutely. I find it happens most often when I’m getting overwhelmed. I end up completely shutting down, and it can be so hard to get myself started again. I have to remember to be kind to myself, slow down, and not try to do everything at one time.

Yes, this happens a lot for me. I've had a good day but then randomly it's like something just clicked and I feel horrible about myself. I deal with moments like this by blasting music in my ear hence why I'm half deaf in my right ear. When at home I blast music and scream it (some people I like to scream their music is: yungblud, mgk, nf, kid laroi, jxdn, etc.) Just anything you can relate with works but usually alt. rock, rap, heavy metal, rock are good to scream

Cry it out. Let everything out. Feel everything. All the horrible and bad things. If you have to be somewhere then let others know you’ll be a little late or ask for a ride later in the day so you don’t have to drive yourself or get on public transport. Detach yourself from the thought of having to be somewhere for a minute, it’ll only make you more anxious. You’ll have to feel worse before you Can fell better. If you’re still not feeling well after that, any of the things everyone else said are great coping methods to get you back feeling like yourself.
