Decompression Surgery for Chiari Malformation: Was it Worth It?

Anyone on here who's had decompression surgery for chiari malformation, was it worth it? How bad was the surgery and healing process, did they put you under for the surgery or did you have to stay awake? I'm considering it and I want to talk to a neurologist about it next month.

I have. It was worth it in some was, but I will definitely say this: avoid being jarred, prepared someone to help you do everything for a couple weeks, and help with household chores for at least 6 weeks. Everything is exhausting for a while, simple things will be hard. I had a few issue that aren't typical. But the migraines are less frequent. When I get them now, it doesn't last as long. 2 weeks straight is the longest now. Used to be 3-6 months and then a spinal tap to relieve it for a few hours to a couple days.... So it was helpful for me, I'm just messed up in other ways
