Depakote Side Effects: What Should I Expect?

just started Depakote and I want to know what side effects people have delt with most and how they felt on it. Will it be a noticeable change like I'm hoping? I've been suffering trying to find a medication to stop my mood swings and empty feelings and I really want one that will finally help

I really like depakote! It’s been kinda life changing as a mood stabilizer but I only know it’s effects paired with antipsychotics and antidepressants. It’s got a short half life so sometimes I take it and within a little while I’ve become noticeably calmer

Depakote was a hard pill to swallow for me too big at the dosage I needed. I perfer Haldol.

I had to lower my dosage from 500mg down to 250mg because I was basically getting stuck in my downswing and becoming suicidal.

Depakote is a harder psych med; it has the potential to deteriorate your physical health. I would just say to continue to keep up with your physical health. Make sure you an annual exam, blood work, and an ECG. If something doesn't feel right, speak up.

I hated being on depakote. It made me into a zombie and I didn't feel or care about anything.
