oh dude same. i got stuck in the cycle of opening and closing apps, trying to sleep, not being able to sleep, opening apps, closing them.... i can't give you any advice on like, finding a hobby, because i've always been too depressed to find joy in literally anything. i tend to shoot for nostalgia, like watching gameplays of ollllddd games i grew up with (or actually playing them if i have the energy); i started giving extra love to my animals, since i sure had the time and even if *i* don't deserve that energy they certainly do (volunteering is great too; if animal shelters aren't your thing, many hospitals/addiction centers/NICU units accept and need volunteers!); and i tried to remember stuff i was into when i was younger. i was always interested in law and crime and stuff of that nature, so eventually i found myself actually enjoying watching true crime videos. sometimes, before activities start feeling fulfilling, you just gotta do 'em. i knew i didn't hate Fable III when i booted it up again for the first time in years, but give me a few days of playing like ten minutes and i'm hooked again. it's cheesy, but you really just gotta find that tiny little spark of passion we all harbor; it never dies out, just gets a little lost.

i'm also usually pretty bad with words, but if you need someone to vent/dump whatever on/try to get some advice, my messages are open and i'm free for the next eight hours (AKA most of the day every day). anonymity is great for me, so if it's the same for you, i got you!

Calming hobbies that have helped me are hammocking and photography. You can take a picture of anything! And getting out into nature and just laying there in a hammock has really helped me on bad days. Hammocking plus music too if you need to have more of a distraction?? Mwuah. I hope you’re able to find something to calm you down without using your phone, even though it may be extremely comforting, because doing other things can help you branch into other activities really easily. Find some monotonous tasks that can pass time too. For me it’s something like organizing possessions that I have by certain attributes, but there are many different things you can do. Don’t let yourself feel trapped because of no phone apps being as stimulating as they were before.
