Struggling with Depression Medication: Seeking Advice

I have noticed that my medication gives me a high for 2-3 days and then I feel sad again. I then feel better for 2 weeks and then end up in a depressing and hopeless black hole. I do not think my medications are working. Is there anything medications that works for Major Depressive Disorder?

I take Paxil but I also take abilify, which is a booster pill for any antidepressant and makes them work better

No abilify is not a booster to make antidepressants work better. It is a second generation atypical antipsychotic. It has nothing to do with antidepressants.

You might be rapid cycling. Its possible abilify eased symptoms that were obscuring a rapid cycle (associated with bipolar and schizoaffective). I have a rapid cycle on top of a long cycle. It's possible to get more than one disorder on top of eachther. I wasnt able to identify either cycle until I was medicated. You notice more when the psychosis eases up.
