This didn’t happen to me but to my 15 y/o. She has changed so much since she hit puberty. She is super depressed, cutting, and overall not mentally well. We did find out that she has PMDD which explains her two weeks good and two weeks bad each month. But we are still struggling with the right combo of meds for her.

I distinctly remember my first depressive symptom at age 10, maybe a year or two before my period. I had a feeling of “well, is that all there is?” (to life) and it never really left me.

I hit puberty very young; around 8 or so and had my first period (very traumatizing) at the same age. My home life was also not great even if it didn’t recognize it then, and I feel I’ve dealt with it in silence ever since but you are not alone!

Yes. Puberty is when a lot of the abuse and neglect from my mother got a lot worse, too, so that really didn't help. Our brains are so f'd lol

Yes. My first MDD episode happened the same year as my first period (I had just turned 11).
