Dialysis Schedule and Work Conflict

I just started dialysis about 3 weeks ago. I go 3 days a week 4 hours a day. I'm still making urine. My kidneys are not filtering. Am I going too many days a week. I want to go 1 day so I can work and not be homeless. Any suggestions?

also prayers for your uncle. I just don't trust my doctors. They lead me to fail and the more ignorant my doctors are, they over medicated hence I got damaged kidneys. I told my doctors off.

I was on dialysis 3 times a week for 4.5 hours. It really depends on how much your kidneys are filtering. You can still make urine but your body isn't filtering the bad things as they should. I had an uncle who had to be on dialysis for 6 days of the week.

yes the doctor recommended but my doctors are the reasons my kidneys are damaged by over medicating me. They couldn't figure how to lower my blood pressure. I changed my diet and exercises. The more the doctors couldn't figure out my high blood pressure issue they gave me more and more poisonous pharmaceutical drugs.

you are definitely not going too many days. think of it this way, a normal kidney works 24/7, so those hours you are getting dialysis is the most your kidneys are getting normal function. maybe you could try and split up days and do fewer hours to help with your work schedule? or even switch to home hemo so you can do your treatments on your own time

I did hemo dialysis but switched to peritoneal dialysis. It's going much better in every way possible you might want to ask about peritoneal dialysis and see if its a better match although if you like to stay out late it might not be the best fit

Hi herc22, I’m so sorry for all your issues. Mine are quite similar…high blood pressure with Crohn’s disease caused one kidney to fail, now with a single kidney they’ve put me on meds to lower Uric Acid & treat Gout. I’m on 2 BP meds and trying to lose weight too. Which meds were you on that damaged your kidneys…it’s a concern of mine and want to avoid the worst. Thank you!!

I’m scared of the unknown. My question what do I expect when I need dialysis? Idk my nephrologist is so non shalaunt about it he don’t tell me what is coming down the pike. I want to know ugh. He also gives me no hope period. Someone out there going through bout the same as me?

Enjoy while you still can pee cause will stop soon, also Is difficult to avoid the 3 days treatment and 4 hours par day, the only thing that can improve is the dayli time maybe to 3.30 or 3 but that is something that your labs will decide. In the meantime: Welcome to the club !! You are not alone !
