Exploding Head Syndrome: Seeking Advice

Hello, have any of you had a sleep study done? I believe I have a sleep disorder called exploding head syndrome i used to but now more frequently hear a noise that isn’t there and it makes me up and freaks me out like knock on the door or doorbell or just crash or bang noises. My primary care doctor and therapist agree with this diagnosis but my psychiatrist doesn’t but my doctor said he cant do referrals for specialists. Any advice?

First, I'm curious why your primary can't do referrals for the sleep study. When I had mine (testing for sleep apnea), it was my primary that gave the referral

Your primary really should be able to do that referral. Perhaps if he truly can’t or won’t, he could refer you to like someone in the middle who could do the referral for you. I’m not sure who that might even be but there’s gotta be someone he can refer you to that would refer you for a sleep study if he’s not able to.

Yep I've had one. Advice for the study don't try to do anything the next day. Nothing but sleeping. In my experince it was a not sleeping study. Also if something is unconfortable see if they can ajust it spent the whole night with a wire jabbing me only to find out it was a super easy fix.
