I would talk to your hematologist….. if your INR is well adjusted maybe? I would just be prepared for a lot of down time to heal bruising.

thanks! When I was on Coumadin, I was constantly stressed about my PT/INR. I take eliquis now which is night and day. The bruising was my concern, and for the most part, I’m still as active as I was before I was diagnosed. Thanks for the advice!

If you want to do it, then go ahead. Just be careful. You still have your life to live and can't let it control you. I tested positive for factor V 27 years ago. I do alot of things with my kids. Hiking, Zip Lining, Horseback riding.

I have factor 5, my daughter takes Xarelto because she has Factor 5 as well. She had two pulmonary embolism go through her heart, and into her lungs. Why she is alive we don't know how,I'm am so grateful she is,however the doctor said usually people won't live through that. So I was tested, and the Factor 5 came from me. I have never had a blood clot so the doctors didn't give me blood thinners. The rule of thumb Is from what the doctors say is no blood clots or issues, they won't give blood thinners to you, even though you ha e Factor 5. I went to the doctor and he freaked because I had not been taking blood thinners all along. Does this sound right? I look at it as I don't want to wait until I have a clot before i deal with it. I'm 53 I smoke. I may not get a chance to deal with it and die. I'm taking Warrfarin. Not sure if it's the way it should be anyone know?
