Can You Have Both Fibromyalgia and Multiple Sclerosis?

Has anyone else with Fibromyalgia been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis as well? I know the two have similar symptoms, but I was wondering if you can have both MS and Fibro?

How did you go about getting diagnosed with MS, even though the symptoms can be similar to Fibro? I feel like m doctor is writing off all my symptoms as Fibro and I just want to be sure.

@Scijoe63, it’s so frustrating and I feel like my symptoms are consistently getting worse. 😥

Same. I feel like I’m racing with the clock—I’m 58 and don’t have many “good” years left. I’d like to enjoy them, but I’m always so tired and/or hurt so bad.

My primary care doctor gave me a referral to a neurologist and my neurologist is having me do a brain MRI to rule out MS. From researching I found that most people with fibromyalgia will also at some point develop MS. Hopefully not but it was in some articles I read. Fibromyalgia is supposed to be diagnosed once EVERYTHING is ruled out. Hell my doctor at the time didn’t rule out anything.. he just said it’s fibromyalgia and I’m young so don’t worry it can’t get worse.. and here I am years later and it’s WORSE!

That is if it is in fact fibromyalgia and nothing else.

Same. Seems my provider ticked off the box for fibromyalgia then ignored anything else.

I got my fibromyalgia diagnosis when they were checking me for MS. I still get checked every couple years because I have some symptoms fibro can't explain
