Frequent headaches and neck pain, what could be the cause?

I’ve been experiencing headaches and neck pain almost daily for months now. Sometimes they seem to be more like migraines, though I’m not clear on what separates headaches from migraines. Almost always accompanying the headache or migraine is sensitivity to light and neck pain. I’ve thought it was caused my not drinking enough water, but I don’t think that’s it. It could also be anxiety but I get them even when I’m relaxed. I have no idea what’s causing these and it’s making me a bit worried. I told my psychiatrist about it and she said it could be from taking ibuprofen every time I get a headache. But, I’ve recently found ibuprofen to no longer be helpful and have switched to naproxen. Any idea of what this could be or what causes them are worth sharing!!

We are so similar. I recommend you see a chiropractor/physical therapist. My chiropractor discovered every vertebrae in my neck is out including my skull/the plates in it. Anxiety is linked to neck pain/headaches. Possibly you have the same issue as me. Hope this helps

I wholeheartedly agree with @Jessikitti. I also have chronic headaches but I do have spine and neck issues, so I know where the majority of my headaches come from. And either PT or a chiropractor should be able to tell you the difference between a regular headache and a migraine, but sensitivity to light/sound is typical of a migraine. Good luck

Headaches can be helped with ice packs and hot showers and essential oils like peppermint roll on for head and temples. Also get a daith piercing inside your ear that helps with less in tense migraines or headaches. Helps tons.
