Gabapentin Users: How Much Do You Take?

Other Gabapentin users (for migraines, chronic pain, etc.), can I ask how much you take to feel it working? Or if it ended up not working for you? I started on it a few months ago and my doctors are increasing my dose every 2 weeks, but it feels like it’s taking months to see any results!

I take it for chronic nerve pain (feeing like I’m being stabbed and/or I’m on fire) and nausea from nerve damage. It’s an absolute lifesaver and I consider it my most valuable medication! I take 600 mg a day, 300 in the morning and 300 at night. Do you split your dose up to work throughout the day? I definitely think it helps me!

Thanks for the reply! I’m at 600mg right now also. I don’t split it at the moment, but I have a follow up appt with my doctor in a couple of weeks and I can mention it to him to see if that might help!

I also take 600 mg but I take the whole dose at night and the consistency has helped my pain. Not gone but it takes the edge off most days! I was told the true therapeutic dose is like double what I’m on but also higher doses can contribute to constipation.

thanks for the reply! Since it hasn’t helped a ton but I haven’t had a lot of bad side effects, my doc is going to keep increasing my dose. But maybe I just need to stick with it a bit longer to feel relief, thanks!

I tried it for a long time with no results. They just kept upping the dose when I kept saying it wasn’t working. I got up to 900mg a day before I gave up. It was making me very groggy. But, different people, different results.

Same with me! I finally said it's not going to work and Dr. put me on Lyrica which helps
