Struggling with Gastroparesis: Need Advice and Support

Can anyone give me some advice with this gastroparesis? I’m sick ALL THE TIME!!! I was just diagnosed in March but I had this going on for awhile. It just got worse n worse until I was FINALLY diagnosed. My husband n I fight because I can’t do what I used to do n we’ve been married 29yrs! Idk how I’m going back to work because I’m so weak n I LOVE my job. I have lost a total of 161lbs in 3yrs n I don’t want to live like this. I throw up non- digested food n all I can eat are some soups, popsicles, sherbet, n gingerale. Even eggs n chicken make me sick. Plus it’s hard to cook for myself because I’m weak n nauseous. I’m 51yrs old n I’m feeling like this is going to kill me. This lifestyle isn’t me, I’m having a hard time getting the energy to shower let alone going food shopping etc.

Hi there, I'm so sorry to read about how bad you GP is. I have it and so does my twin sister. The difference is mine is not even close to being as bad as yours or my sister. You and my sister sound about the same. Have you seen a doctor? If you can go see a gastrointestinal doctor they are the best doctor to help to help you. You can also get some medications that may help you from throwing up all the time. My sister only weighs 70 pounds now and only eats very little, the doctor's on her are are terrible. The doctor's where I live at amazing. Can you tell me what state you live in? Maybe your primary care doctor can help? Also about your husband, I know it's hard that other people may not understand. Maybe you could find a support group online or near you and see if he could read some it or go to one with you. He might just be scared and worried about you. Also , sorry I forget about this some registered Dieticians , not a nutritionist, might have some knowledge on what you might be able to eat if you can find a good one. I hope maybe some of this helps. Please write me back if you like. Susie

you wrote me about a month ago. Things haven’t gotten much better. I’m in PA. I live in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA. It’s ridiculous around here. You can’t get an in person appointment. Through ALL OF THIS I’ve seen a someone in person maybe once. No weight checks, nothing. So u can understand why I’m feeling so alone. I eat the same old things because I’m afraid of sickness. My gastroparesis Doctor isn’t much better. I’m ready to tell them all to take a long walk down a short alley. Thank you for writing back because I’ve had it with all this. I don’t run fevers so they NEVER catch infection until I’m VERY sick!!!! I just don’t know how we’re going to do anything w/o anyone taking any interest in me or what’s happening with me.

That's so hard. Mine isn't that bad. But I ate too much for breakfast and threw up. I know they have a stimulator they can put in your stomach. Have you talked to your GI about options? I try really hard not to take meds. I worry about side effects.
