GERD Flare-ups with Prozac Capsules

does anyone else with GERD that takes prozac/fluoxitine, get extremely bad flare-ups when taking in capsule form? or even believe prozac capsules are what Jumpstarted their acid reflux? I recently had to switch to tablets for my antidepressants, because the capsules were giving me awful heartburn evertime I took my meds

My gerd got diagnosed *after* I started the prozac capsules. The gerd symptoms got a lot better after I stopped taking it, but my anxiety makes it flare up. Now I've started taking it again and my acid reflux is back in full swing.

yes same! It's wild, everyone I've asked says prozac capsules cause heartburn /especially/ people with gerd but it's nowhere on any of the side effect lists doctors don't even mention it as a side effect. I'd recommend switching to the tablets if your insurance will let you! Causes way less flareups for me personally

Yeah that's part of why I stopped taking it, capsule Gabapentin also gives me similar acid reflux and tastes even worse so I have to take tablets of that too

I don't have GERD but do get acid reflux. I noticed it started happening after taking my Prozac in the AM but as never saw it listed as a side effect. Sucks but good to know I'm not the only one. Wouldn't even think to switch to tablets! Thanks for sharing!

Whenever I took Prozac (switched to Lexapro) I’d get horrible acid reflux after I took the pill.
