Be prepared to figure out how much isn't normal. Like feeling overwhelmed in target because of the white floors and bright red colors plus the narrow aisles. I thought that it was normal to hate being in stores.

Some of the things that help me is have music playing while working on what you are doing or having a small fidget toy that can fit in the palm of you hand or if you can't do so then try to find coping skills so you can still be successful.

I've had autism since I was 4. I'm almost 21 now, and I have learned to cope with my autism, and this is my advice to you. Be honest about everything. If it makes you feel uncomfortable saying your problems to a doctor, just pretend and imagine your doctor is your best friend that you really trust, or even as your other if you're in a relationship. It's worth a try, and open up as you would open up to your lifelong best friend.
