Pre t dude here ! How long does it take to get T after youve been diagnosed (as a minor)? Do *both* of your parents have to consent to HRT if they're still together?

I think that just one parent has to consent, but I'd definitely do your research, yk? (Not saying you haven't) I'm excited for you. Remember, you're valid! ^^

It depends on what state/city/country youre in. Im in California, it took a few months after my diagnosis when i was 16 (but my GD is also an Endocrinologist) I had to have both of my parents sign on it

Not sure what country you live in & what trans healthcare options are available, but I recommend looking for clinics that use the informed consent (IC) model! IC basically means that as long as you're able to make an educated decision regarding your medical treatment, you can start HRT. If you live in the US, the IC model should also apply to minors in most states. In contrast, some places use the diagnostic model (DM), which require (a) documentation of a gender dysphoria diagnosis from a medical professional, and (b) a letter from a mental health provider to access HRT. Clinics that use the DM are also more likely to require consent from both parents, as they often consider gender dysphoria to be a mental illness of some sort. The diagnostic model is ultimately an elaborate form of gatekeeping, and I advise trying to avoid it when possible. If you're in the States, there's a map you can use to find informed consent clinics near you! Not sure if we can share links here, but if you google "HRT informed consent map" it should pop up. A lot of Planned Parenthood locations offer HRT under the IC model as well.

Ftm 29 here, been on HRT since 2013, from New York. If you have a therapist with a confirmed diagnosis, I believe you just need approval from your sole caretaker. Depending on your state, the laws may require you to wait until you're 18, but only one guardian needs to sign if you're underage. Hope that helps. Let me know if there's any other questions, I'll try to be prompt and respond. đź‘Ť

In my experience it only took me about 3 appointments over 2 weeks to go from registering at my clinic to getting my first shot- that being said I was 19 at the time and in NYC so depending on where you are and how supportive your parents are that could greatly impact the amount of hoops you have to jump through
