It's not immediate for me, it varies from a couple minutes to a couple hours depending on how much I consume and what it is. I can't even imagine how hard it would be accidentally eating gluten and then having an immediate reaction.

I am extremely sensitive to gluten . With in 15 min I will have symptoms . Not fun at all. I get so bloated I look like I am 9 months pregnant . Have you found anything to help when that happens?

Holy cow that's awful! I'm so sorry you have that bad of a reaction. I don't have any idea of what would help with that reaction. 4 people in my family including myself, have celiac disease or gluten sensitivity in general and none of us have this severe of a reaction so I have no idea how to even begin to alleviate that. I usually experience symptoms of nausea and vomiting, a sudden wave of tiredness and sometimes diarrhea too. I'm sorry I can't be of more help but I'd recommend talking to your doctor or a healthcare professional to try and soothe the issue.

Mine usually comes on within a few minutes to an hour. Depending on how much was contaminating my food. I seriously have my own butter and peanut butter because my kids aren’t great about keeping crumbs out of them and I can’t risk it.

Yeah at my house I also keep my own butter and peanut butter . Also soy sauce and teriyaki sauce. It’s crazy all the stuff we have to watch out for from meds to food down to the simple flavorings that go into drinks . This might me to much into but does anyone else get the constant constipation for a week and then diarrhea for a week ? This is all the time I have no happy medium. I try miralax every day and nothing . I’ve gone to my doc about this and all she can tell me is gluten free diet and gives me bentyl for the bloating ( which does help slightly) . I am also diabetic so have to worry about that too . FYI my doc says there is a correlation between the two so everyone should get their A1c done just to see where you are 😊

I don’t have issues with constipation unless I eat too many gluten free store bought items. I try to eat more of an anti inflammatory diet due to other medical issues and so I do a lot of vegetables, protein, etc. My most used store bout gf are pretzel sticks, bread here and there, and graham crackers. I do brown rice pasta instead of gluten free. I’ll make a smoothie or protein shake and add mct oil which works a lot like miralax, in that it helps keep things moving smoothly, plus it has lots of other benefits. But it’s a natural thing instead of medicinal. You only need a little bit and you can’t taste it. I would say try to back up from the gluten free items a little bit, add mct and see if that helps.

I’m so sensitive! Within 10 minutes I’m so sick and down for the count. I don’t really have a thing that helps besides sleeping it off and drinking a lot of water. It’s awful and I’m sorry you go through it too. ❤️

I’ve started taking gluten pills (similar to lactose intolerant pills) whenever I know I’ll be eating cross contaminated food! They’ve helping with all of the exposure symptoms for me.

@emilyoso I have a few brands I’m trying out but I like “Gluten Comfort - Tolerase” and “GliadinX” for when I know I’ll be eating cross contaminated food. (There’s a bunch more, try googling!) I also recently started taking the “Celiact” supplements and those help TREMENDOUSLY with fatigue and brain fog related to gluten :)

Mine comes after an hour but I start projectile vomiting. The worst is when I try to sleep I off and I wake up half way through. My intestines have to dredge everything back out.

Yes. Middle of my meal I’m dizzy and running to the bathroom with pain. 😖

How do those that are super sensitive go about eating at restaurants? I literally haven’t eaten at a restaurant in probably 5 years now due to how often I get sick from cross contamination. But I also have cut out dairy and eggs since then so it feels like it’s impossible to even try.
