My Struggle with Hashimoto's and Finding the Right Treatment

Hi! I have dealt with Hashimoto for a couple years now and it SUCKS. My TPO antibodies started as 275. Then, I was on synthroid for a year, and that just made me worse with my TPO antibodies getting to 530!!!!!! Now I’ve been on armour thyroid for about 2 months and they are already down to 235. It is working wonders for me.

Armour thyroid? What is that?

it is desiccated pig thyroid and is mostly T3 with some T4. I took it for a couple of years after taking Levothyroxine for lots of years and not feeling my symptoms change. I switched to Armour because it was more “natural”. It works for some people but it didn’t help me much. It is mostly T3 so it knocked me off balance at times. I finally went and saw a new endocrinologist and we both decided a “controlled” prescription is what I needed due to my Hashimotos and lab work. My numbers were constantly bouncing from low to high or vice versa. I have always tried to do things more natural and take care of my body, but am learning for me I need to accept that something’s I need to do the medical way. This was a hard thing to do but I have already noticed a positive difference in taking Synthroid. I chose not to go back to levothyroxine because it never helped my symptoms and I read that some people found better results by taking the actual name brand so I’m hoping to be in that category as well. We will see in a couple of months when I get labs done again 😊. Like I said though, I can already feel a difference😊

Oh okay. There are so many different brands out there it almost makes my head spin😆. May I ask why you chose that particular brand?
