Heart rate dips while sleeping, is it normal?

I'm curious what can cause heart rate dips while sleeping? my sleeping hr is usually kinda high anyways (60-80) and my heart rate in general rests higher than most. last night about 30 minutes before I woke up my heart rate spiked to 94bpm then dropped within 3 minutes down to 57bpm. after that it incrementally went up until I woke up, and was resting at about 78bpm when I woke up 30 minutes later. I'm curious if this is something that happens normally or if it's something I should mention to my cardiologist. I haven't noticed it previously but I also was started on Metroprolol for my heart rate and BP being too high so if this is something normal it could just be my meds working so I was wondering if this is normal or not. Thanks!

if you haven’t been on metoprolol for long then it’s most likely your system adjusting to it. I know it took my body a small bit before it officially got use to the medication. and it would constantly rise and dip until it adjusted in my system completely.

yeah I've had some rising and dipping just nothing this crazy. I'm loving the metroprolol cause it brought my highs down from 165ish to 120ish and I'm currently pregnant and we're using it for BP too and my bp was 204/121 one of the days before we started metroprolol and since starting it I've been in the 120/70-130/80 range so I'm definitely very happy with it. I've been on it about 2 weeks. I was just unsure if the dip was med related or possibly something else I needed to mention 😊

Mine does the same even with midodrine. I honestly have no clue. I'll ask my cardiologist

Hi!! I’ve been on it for years- I hope it’s just your body getting used to it? I’ve never had any problems. I take it for fast heart rate and skipped beats. There are different meds - I’d talk to the cardiologist

honestly the med itself is working GREAT for me. And I don't have many options for medication right now anyways because I'm pregnant. I'm not sure if this is directly tied to the medication or something completely different if I'm being honest.
