I’ve had it for 5 years. It can’t be ‘cured’ but the outbreaks dropped way down after a few years. When I was first diagnosed and taking meds I got like 10 in a year, next year maybe 5, next year maybe 2, now it’s been about a year since my last outbreak and I haven’t been taking meds for it. It got much easier to deal with

Hi! Do you have any side effects worth mentioning? I've been putting off treatment, since i do not exhibit symptoms, but I'm still afraid of passing it along - which i have heard is helped by medication.

I have had a similar experience to you and can back up your statement. I have not been on meds consistently (even though I should) but as long as I keep my stress levels low and not allow my immune system to weaken, I do not have outbreaks.

No, you just learn to manage it. Learn your triggers, what helps. Lysine and valtrex are good.

I read somewhere you can if you detox your body. Tbh I got on here to see if anyone has done it and for how long. I only get outbreaks if I shave down there because it’s triggered when the hair grows back. Does anyone have the same problem ? Or does something where I can do that without getting an outbreak.

Unfortunately there’s no CURE for herpes yet. It can be dormant for extremely long periods of time, but it still lives in an infected persons body. It’s best to keep preventative meds on hand even if you aren’t choosing to take them daily. Your body does get more used to it with time and will breakout less often. Always tell a new partner you are positive for hsv before sex. Wether you’re taking meds or not. Wether you are breaking out or not. It’s important to protect our partners and to be transparent with them so we don’t share our bodies with the wrong people. Hope this helps!

Does anyone else notice an outbreak after eating nuts or pecans?
