If you're in college, I strongly recommend you look into your school's disability resource center! It's a helpful tool I wish someone had told me about when I first started college. Crohn's is absolutely a disability and the resource center can help you get set up with appropriate accommodations to help you better balance your health and your courses. For me, the accommodations looked like a flexible attendance policy (my school's DRC even composed letters at the beginning of every semester that I could give to each of my professors explaining my accommodations while not disclosing my specific disability. You do NOT have to disclose specifics about your disability with professors if you don't want to. It was very helpful for if I had to miss class for procedures, treatment, hospitalization, etc or leave early due to my body not cooperating), ability to take a reduced course load if needed, additional time for testing/exams to accommodate bathroom breaks, etc.
