Hyperfixation on Cleaning: A Common Symptom of Depression?

This also may be related to my depression, but does anyone else create a large mess from a project or something they were doing and leave it sit for months and then all of a sudden hyperfixate on finishing it/cleaning it up for 3 hours? My laundry/bedroom is my largest example of this lol

God I know I do. I do it with my art, little models of stuff I hyperfixate on, I leave books everywhere around my room with a bookmark somewhere past page 1 in each of them... 😅

literally i will start my laundry then leave it around my room and not fold it for weeks then have to reclean it anyway so i spend three house cleaning thr laundry up and every other mess in my room from my little bouts of fixation and then spend 3 hours to have a clean room... just for my laundry to be done and get thrown on my floor again... i think i have a problem...

I very much do this lol... my bedroom is usually proof of this. For me it is both adhd and depression, which sucks.

Yup, very much so, I have a pile of clothes I was half way though folding, my paint supplies, and some fabric from a sowing project and the second I get motivated it will be spotless in my room

I do this all the time. It’s better since I got diagnosed and treated for ADHD.
