Hypermobility and Bone Health: Seeking Advice

I have the hypermobile type, and was already considered a high risk for osteoporosis and osteoarthritis due to family history. if anyone here also has the hypermobile type, what is your experience with osteoarthritis/osteoporosis?

I am hyper mobile and have arthritis in my left hip, left knee, left shoulder, and left ankle. I’m left handed, but idk if that matters, it’s just odd that it’s only the left side of my body. I also have horrible lower back pain and neck pain. I’m not 100% sure what type of arthritis I have, but I use Voltaren (topical cream for arthritis pain) and lidocaine roll on. My experience is that some days are worse than others. When the temperature drops quickly it is the worst. I can always tell when a cold front is moving in because the pain is worse. In general it doesn’t impact me too bad. While I’m doing something (like working, I’m a hairstylist), it isn’t bad, it starts to get worse after work or after I sit down for more than 20 min. All in all, it doesn’t impact my life too heavily! I do strongly recommend Voltaren and lidocaine roll on. Both are available over the counter in the USA. If you chose to try Voltaren, use it consistently, but don’t over use it as you can overdose. It doesn’t work immediately but it works really well after consistent use for a bit. Lidocaine is more my go to as it is immediate relief. Sorry I’m not super knowledgeable but I do understand what it’s like to know that you have chronic pain that others will tell you “only old people have that”. Just know that because you aren’t 80 doesn’t mean your pain is any less valid!

I have this type too. My Nana had osteoporosis and osteoarthritis, though she was never diagnosed with any hypermobile condition due to her being in her late 70’s at the time of her initial diagnoses for the above. My mother has had problems with osteoarthritis and, though I’m not sure, I believe my other grandma has some type of arthritis and joint issues. I have a feeling it’s genetic and since I’m already a boiling pot of everyone’s conditions from my whole family, I have a feeling that I will later on get this too.

I have arthritis in my cervial spine, but I haven’t had any scans on other parts of my body that I suspect may also have arthritis
