do other people with IBS experience symptoms immediately after eating? i've started to realise today that what i thought was lactose intolerance might instead be better explained by ibs 🙃

Yeah if not immediately after I tend to start feeling sick 20-30 minutes after eating, although ibs can have trigger foods that make things worse, and for me one of those foods is dairy so could be that!

For years I have dealt with this, eat certain foods and almost instantly start getting super sweaty pinching gut feeling and rub to the bathroom in agony...for myself dairy didn't seem to be a trigger at all it was more like red sauces, raw broccoli, carrots fatty meats etc. I had tried to talk to a doctor about it around 8 years ago and he just shrugged and said "that's IBS" but never went into it at all with me. It made me feel like this was just something that wasn't fixable you just had to deal with it. I just got in with a new Dr and she said it's absolutely treatable and an waiting for my in house physical to get started with managing this despicable conundrum haha

fatty meats are definitely a pretty big symptom trigger for me too, second strongest is probably a specific type of chocolate that i unfortunately adore. i might bring it up to my gp the next time i see her

Yes, but not everytime I eat. Its really weird actually because I can eat something one day and be fine but eat it again another day and have issues right after eating it. IBS is not nice at all to have to deal with.

for me its everytime i eat any big meals i need to go to the toilet like 20 minutes after the meal. i dont experience this when i have lighter meals like soup (i love soup because its so convenient since i know i wont be rushing to the toilet).

Yep, for me it's always after a meal, start feeling super bloated and full and tight.
