IIH Surgery: Share Your Experience

I have had 8 surgeries for IH: LP shunt, lasted for 5 years; ICP monitor x2, not very painful and extremely informative; LP shunt ligation; VP shunt, way better than LP shunt; anti-siphon valve addition; VP shunt revision

I’ve had a VP shunt placement in 2018, also a ICP monitor in the ICU in 2019 and I may or may not get a revision in the upcoming future.

Also none of the medication worked for me which is why I got my VP shunt placed, the VP shunt helped me tremendously and saved my vision. It’s unfortunately not working at the moment, but my pressure hasn’t been high.

I had no idea a ICP monitor existed! I will definitely look into this. Thank you. Sounds like VP shunt is the way to go. All out of meds to try and the pain in my head and eyes is just getting too high again.
