I'm staying on all my meds. This took major willpower to do, even with medication.

I'm not getting off any medication. My pancreas is too weak and sluggish with meds. My A1C would go up even with a perfect diet. โค๏ธ

That is great. With diet, I was able to get my AIC to normal. They call me diabetes type 2 in remission๐Ÿ™„

the extra sugar is hurting your body. Awesome work getting it to 9. I started at 8.4 three years ago. THREE!!!! It didn't happen over night. I hit stall at 6.2-6.4 for awhile. I couldn't figure out how to cut any more carbs. Then, I just decided to cut it all out. Everything bad. Animal fat, animal protien, processed food, frozen food, pasta,breads,potatoes..... no sugar, hidden sugars. I lost 30 pounds. I no longer struggle walking up stairs. You can do it too. Plant-based food is actually really really good and I know it's not hurting my body. โค๏ธโœ‹๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’•

I went plant-based and low carb. Way low carb. I got tired of all my labs being out of normal range. I check my blood sugar in the morning, before I eat & after I eat to see if what I ate raised my blood sugar more than 40 points. If over 40 points, I don't eat it anymore. Perid. I'm strict about what I eat. I check my blood sugar again at bedtime to compare to next morning reading to see if my body is still doing dawn phenomenon. It finally stopped. You can Google dawn phenomenon, it's common with diabetics. In the morning my blood sugar would be in the 140s. Once I stopped consuming carbs my first morning blood sugar is finally 105 on a good morning. SUCCESS!!!!! Too much sugar in your body is harming your body. The ADA guidelines are under 7.0 is okay for a diabetic. Not for me. Google an A1C chart, look how much your blood sugar is on average in the 6. something range. ITS TOO HIGH!!!!!! I'm going to try to get b.s. even lower... 5.4 is excellent, but I want to give myself a little wiggle room to maybe have a slice of pizza on occasion. With medication my pancreas is still very sluggish. That's why I'm so strict with myself about eating and monitoring. It's taken 3 years of trying. I finally did it.

awesome question. Instead of dairy Alfredo sauce, I soak RAW cashews in water over night and make a very simple vegan sauce, saute mushrooms in vegan butter and mix with sauce. I like a lot of mushrooms.16 oz to be exact. I steam lots of broccoli, pour that mixture over broccoli. Top with nutritional yeast. It's delicious. When we eat pasta, basically we just like the sauce, right? Pasta is just a medium that has no flavor, really. So, I make my sauces flavorful but pour over hearty vegetables. I pour red sauces over spaghetti squash or butternut squash. I mix impossible meat with red sauce as I would ground beef. To this I top with black olives, nutritional yeast... anything you'd like actually to give you a satiated feeling. Tacos ๐ŸŒฎ There are grain free Tortillas but very very expensive. the brand: siete. In San Diego easy to find, but, my goodness 7.96 for 8 Tortillas. I Stay away from flour Tortillas that say low carb. Flour is not low carb. It will spike my blood sugar. Another option for "taco" is egglife wraps. They are made with egg, not flour. I will eat this. I'm plant-based, not vegan. They too, are expensive. But, I don't want sugar to damage my eyes or give me peripheral neuropathy. Bread ๐Ÿž I make chaffles. They are made with almond flour and pressed with mini waffle maker for the perfect size bun or sandwich. Again, it's the stuff in-between the bread we want. I have accepted that I must not eat bread ๐Ÿ˜• for a1c sake, I accepted that tho a chaffle is nothing like bread, I USE IT IN PLACE OF BREAD. It works for me. I make it work, actually. Pasta There is chickpea pasta. I've tried it. It, again, spikes my b.s. too high. But it is an option for some. Not for me. I go the vegetable route as stated above. Breakfast! I no longer eat conventional breakfast items. No eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, waffles, pancakes, syrup. At home I eat a huge spring mix salad. Huge. Vegan cheese, lots, a big handful of Sunflower seeds, chopped up walnuts dressed with a mix of olive oil, balsamic oil, two smashed up garlic cloves, and a dash of Dijon mustard. You can Google actual recipe, I have changed amounts a tad to my liking. NO salt. ๐Ÿ‘Ž Don't add anything sweet. Your body can get the nutrients a raisin or cranberry has somewhere else. They are just condensed sugar. I love dried fruit, I miss it. Especially mango... Fruit Berries.... I do eat 1 banana ๐ŸŒ a day when I have money. (I'm on ssdi). I love bananas. It's not kind to my blood sugar, but it doesn't spike it either. But I do check to make sure. I hope this encourages anyone reading this that it's doable to get a1c within normal rage with diet, if medication isn't working well enough. It wasn't for me. You can do it!!!!โค๏ธโœ‹๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ™Œ

Congratulations that is fantastic! My lowest was 5.9 and I had to really watch what I ate, I fell off the wagon so I need to get my A-1 C checked again. I cut out gluten dairy carbs and sugar and I was doing fantastic but I think I just get so tired of eating like that so Iโ€™ll get back on the track๐Ÿ‘
