Improving My Digestive Health with Dicyclomine

I recently started take dicyclomine (Bentyl) after a lifetime of digestive issues, and it is making a serious difference. I am also to eat more foods, and I worry less about flaring up. I’m on here mostly to see things that have worked for other people so that I can continue improving my overall health. I struggle with lots of small food allergies as well that cause a histemic reaction rather that typical intolerance reactions in my digestive system, and I wonder if they have any correlation or not. The allergies must be mild because they don’t show up on tests, but they do cause me some distress when I experience them. I am also looking for people with similar allergy experiences to me.

Dicyclomine has been really helpful for me too, I don't use it daily anymore but I keep it around for flares, and it takes care of them pretty quickly. What really helped my digestive health change a ton though was a course of xifaxan (rifaximin). I was really not expecting it to make much of a difference, but holy cow. It's been a few months now and most days I feel so much better. That plus diet (cutting out gluten was a big one) has probably made the most difference for me. I don't know about correlation, but I have a bunch of food allergies too. Not super severe thankfully, but definitely unpleasant and highly inconvenient, especially on top of my digestive restrictions... Mine have never showed up on tests either though. I've heard allergy tests aren't super reliable, but still it would be real nice to know what allergies I have so I don't have to keep getting surprises 🙄 Really hope you continue to find things that can help improve your health!

thank you so much! I’ll definitely ask my GI about rifaximin. And yes, the whole allergy thing sucks. I feel like it must be related because so many people I know with similar health issues to me also experience it, but i’m yet to see any research done on it. Wishing you luck on your health journey too <3
