I did when I was 14 and that is when I received my diagnosis. My experience was actually really good. I enjoyed my time where I stayed. Most of the staff was really empathetic, caring, and helpful as well. I enjoyed my independence and also the structure of the in patient care and the whole routine. I’m actually considering going back again soon because I am struggling a lot. I would say do your research first on which facility or hospital is best in your area for your condition as well if outpatient would work better for you. It does cost quite a bit to do in patient care but if you think it will really be beneficial and make a difference for you then do it.

Thank you for taking the time to reply! I’ve been thinking of doing in-patient as I’ve been afraid of myself and what I may do, but I always hear about bad experiences. This was refreshing to hear & I think I will start researching!

I’ve been like 18 times and each time is a different experience. Sometimes it’s tolerable and sometimes it’s absolutely awful. I’ve been abused by staff members at one point like they physically put there hands on me and it wasn’t to restrain me bc that’s obviously different. DCS was called but they can’t really do anything since it’s so short term. But yeah I’ve gotten so many diagnoses thru in patient stays and sometimes they’ll change for no reason but once I get out my psychiatrist changes it back cuz she knows me longer. Inpatient doctors like to just throw diagnosis at you and dope you up on meds then kick you out. No regard for how the patient actually feels. They can’t afford to cuz we come in and out so fast. I’m assuming that I’ve been 18 times that they would care about me to an extent ya know? But that’s just the real quick jiat of my experience

Went into a facility for suicide watch when i was 15. It was so dehumanizing, and made my suicidal thoughts worse. I havent done anything since i became an adult, so hopefully the adult facilities are better..

I’ve actually heard (and I’ve basically grown up thru those) that it’s worse as an adult because you’re supposed to know better.
