I have osteoarthritis in both knees and in other joints. I did have one knee replacement but I will never, and I say never, do it again! I'm overweight for one thing and the damage I'm doing to my knee (it's been 2 years now) is going to make this knee wear out sooner. It already hurts on both sides of my knee. You may not have this problem of being overweight. And I hope you have a doctor that will not let you run out of medicine while you're on physical therapy. My doctor kept letting me run out of medication on the weekends! So, my experience was very bad. But I've heard of others, that wish they had done it sooner. I wish you luck. For my other knee, I go to a doctor who is helping the pain. I get a brace that opens up the inside of my knee. And in that opening I get a series of four shots. These are the same shots that you probably gotten already. The gel shots. This puts a lot in between those bones. And when I want to walk a lot I wear the brace to prevent pain. I really enjoy it so far.

I am so glad you have a doctor that is working with you with gel shots or and a knee brace. Shame on that other doctor to leave you in so much pain by not refilling yr prescription in time!!

This is why I asked. It is my nightmare. I am about 20 lbs overweight, I need to get back to swimming. Not just to lose weight but I love swimming since all my joints are supported. I have had the gel shots and I passed out on the second one! I know people that did both at the same time the surgery was done by a robot. So in March of 2020, I was scheduled for it but then COVID. I think it's great that I couldn't go through it then! Did you stay in the hospital for a few days afterwards? Did you go to rehab for PT or did you go straight home? Thank you for this, at this point I will one @ a time and see what happens. I have a brace so I can do what your doing.

I hope you have a YMCA nearby. Water aerobics would be perfect for you. I want to go, but I don't feel comfortable going to the Y by myself. I was in the hospital for 3 days. I had physical therapy at home for about a month, and then I started going to the physical therapy department at our hospital. It took me longer to be able to bend my knee right than most people. I hope you don't have this much trouble as I did! I will never do it again. If you have it done, good luck!
