Concerns about weight gain on Lexapro

I am supposed to start Lexapro. I gained a lot of weight while on zoloft (but it might not be the root cause) and I've heard people having weight gain on Lexapro as well. I can't afford to gain any more weight. Doc said it's unlikely...

Weight gain is a common side effect of Lexapro, but it may not affect everyone. It's important to discuss your concerns with your doctor and monitor your weight while on the medication.

I hate to say it but for me at least, Lexapro is the only med that has ever caused me to gain weight. Which for me is a really good thing. Prozac made me lose weight, which I hear is common since it's activating rather than sedating, maybe you could try that?

Ugh, the weight gain from Lexapro is what made me stop using it! I started taking it in 5th grade, and went from around 120 Lbs. to around 190~200 Lbs. in a matter of months; it was quite dramatic. I’ve still found it hard to get rid of that weight since then! I remember that it really did help with my issues, but the weight gain was too much for me, especially since I was just a kid.

I went from 160 to 220 on zoloft which is why I'm so mad. My doctor said "zoloft doesn't really do that" well it did for me!!!

I've been on lexapro for over 20 years and didn't gain weight on it. The only meds I gained weight on were anti psychotics

I lost weight (~10 lbs) on Lexapro, but that was probably because I ate more when I was depressed. You'll have to see, hopefully it works out for you!

Lexapro and Wellbutrin are two meds that worked great for me

Just don't take any type of tetracycline. That has some nasty reactions.
