For context, I’m a self-recognized PDAer (not sure it can even technically be diagnosed where I live). As a young teen, I fell into severe PDA-related burnout that took years to even begin to recover from. Now I’m in my second year of college and have a job. In my experience, adult life is significantly less demanding than life as a child or teen— or at least it’s possible to curate it in a way that’s manageable. I pick my classes, I decide what jobs to apply to based on what I think will work for me, etc. If a demand is too much for me on a particular day, in many instances I can make the call to take care of myself and skip or modify the thing. Of course the PDA is still there, and it makes my life difficult at times, but being more in control of my life has helped so much.
