Living with Chronic Illness: My Story

Hello I'm Fenuay. I'm here to ask for help and be of help when possible. Being chronically ill is horrible, especially when it's not a visible illness. Healthy people just don't understand. I'm happy to interact with new people!

Hi Fenuay!!! I’m in the same boat as you. I have migraines, TN, anxiety, depression and neuropathy & PTSD…. A very long story short, after 22 years of opiates, benzos, muscle relaxers, nerve blockers, etc… I’m off of 12 meds and down to 6!!! It’s a process lol!!! But no more opiates!!! I went through a hellish detox, wound up hospitalized and then in a physical rehab facility…. I’ll tell you my whole story if you want to hear it. But yes, living with “invisible” diseases is very frustrating and difficult cuz NOBODY GETS IT!!!! They just think ur faking it, over exaggerating it, are a drug addict or attention seeking 🙄🙄🙄💔💔💔 so I feel your pain. Since June, when I went to detox, life has been torture & sooo many changes!!! For 22 years I’ve been fighting for my life and it’s been rough to say the least. I’m in PT now, twice a week and will be going to a gym for disabled people soon, so I’m making some progress 😊😊😊 how are you doing & what are you struggling with? Much love and prayers to you 🙏❤️🙏❤️✌🏻😊

I have ptsd from a long life of abuse from my ex husband, I know how it feels to have an illness that others. Don't see or want to believe is real, I was diagnosed with a food phobia. Those who have never heard of it don't, believe that it even exists which makes life hard. I have a very understanding fiance and understanding parents, but between the both it makes just enjoying life difficult.

Hi Fenuay! I'm glad that you found this place, it is wonderful to talk to other people who just get it! I totally understand what everyone is saying about invisible illnesses. I came to terms with how people responded to me and treated me because of Fibro, and now I am finding its very much the same kind of thing with PTSD, depression and anxiety. (Lots more illnesses also, I'm sure). I have had situations where I guess I go into abusive marriage mode and react in what must seem like inappropriate ways, how I had to react while in that marriage. Having to try to explain that? Not fun. And impossible to understand if you don't know! Anyway, I am glad you're here!!
