First I want to say I’m really sorry that you’re dealing with that. I’m sorry 😞
To answer your question, yes and so many other long covid community is too. You aren’t alone.
Anxiety is activating your fight or flight system to be hyper aware of your surroundings to look out for danger. When your flight or flight system is activated it turns off other organs in order to focus on the danger at hand. Like you won’t have a bowel movement if a bear is attacking you and your breathing increases to get more oxygen to your cells and increase energy production. It turns off the digestive system too.
So I’m wondering is the anxiety and stomach problems indirectly impacting each other? And it might trigger more anxiety knowing the you have stomach issues. When it comes to anxiety a lot of people automatically think psychological and that is part of it but also a medical condition can activate your fight or flight which in turns makes the body feel anxious. long covid, for those who feel fatigue, they use adrenaline to keep you functioning making the physiological changes and your body feels anxiety and/or a trauma response.
Our body is great at surviving and will try really hard to keep us functioning and one of the things it does it uses that emergency system to keep us going and that can indirectly impact other systems. And we can’t be in that state for long lengths of time.
It’s good to investigate anxiety and stomach issues and how they impact each other in an integrative way.
When it comes to long covid, if you have fatigue from long covid and push through it, I see anxiety as a product of the body trying to function and using emergency resources to get through the day, and the stomach impacted by that system which in turn impacts the immune system, emotion regulation, and energy supply which also impacts cognitive resources because a lot of our energy goes to the brain.
A lot of long covid people have stomach issues and anxiety and fatigue and cognitive problems. I also have anxiety and stomach issues and everything else haha. However this is my general idea that I’ve learned from looking at the research and surveys and other testimonies from this community. But I always give space that individually our bodies and environment and history are different so I don’t know if you relate to this information or maybe something else is happening but I hope it helped a little bit and if not I’m sorry. 🥺 you aren’t alone dealing with these symptoms 🙏
