Starting a Low-FODMAP Diet: Need Motivation and Tips

Hey, everyone. Finally started a low-FODMAP diet today after years of confusion regarding how to do it right (meal building, how long of a trial, etc). Just need some motivation because restrictive diets for my health have always led in failure due to their emotional toll in the past. And I’m wondering if any of you who have been on a low-FODMAP diet managed to loose some weight on it. Thanks.

I’ve been on it before and I would like to add positivity by saying it’s not the worse diet! You can make your own sauces and have decent meals. It ended up not being the diet for me but once you get through the first two weeks it becomes pretty easy. Just be careful hanging out with friends or family who like to go out to eat. There will be options for you but it’s harder to follow through with outside influences.

I am on it - currently working on reintroducing foods. It’s not the most fun but it has helped a lot of my symptoms which has encouraged me to continue. I agree with the earlier statement about eating out being tough. While more expensive I found it easier to purchase some approved sauces, seasonings, etc. which has also helped with my consistency.

I ordered some ModifyHealth meals recently on sale and here are some tips from Monash (who created the diet) about eating out:
