Struggling with Reintroduction on Low FODMAP Diet

Did anyone follow the low FODMAP diet but still struggle with reintroduction after the elimination phase? I’ve been low FODMAP since 10/2/21 and I’ve been seeing a dietician to assist but every food I reintroduce causes IBs symptoms.

You could try digestive enzymes. Find a broad spectrum one. I’m trying Hum but I’ve tried others. It’s not impossible that you’d be low fodmap indefinitely but it’s not usually the case. Elimination diets are temporary! Unless your body truly can’t digest something, for me it’s gluten. I will say that the fodmap diet didnt work for me at all so if it’s working for you and you’ve found the issue, bravo! That’s a step in the right direction. But the enzymes might help your body adjust to eating more diverse foods. If you haven’t eaten something in a while your body might not digest it well. Hope this helps! Be well 💕

thank you. My dietician recommended that I not take any enzymes while we’re reintroducing foods as it could skew the results. I’m still working on identifying my triggers hopefully once that’s done I can start using enzymes

Yes I found by omitting everything I was extremely sensitive 2011-12 were the hardest. (Mast cell patient here) Digestive enzymes helped and now DigestZen if I’m struggling. Quercetin & LGlutamine were used to heal leaky gut.

do you think Lglutamine is a necessary step for healing? I looked into it once an never followed through. Did it help you? I still haven’t figure out what works for me so I’m always trying new things

To answer 🍌 Everyone reacts differently however any gut permissibility healing courses are worth investigating. If you’ve been tested positive for permiability it’s important to address. MDs may say there’s no such test. An ND or MD can order them. Mine was drinking a tollerable simple solution and collecting urine throughout one day. Gut health is key to whole health.

me too, had IBS late January/February and now all of a sudden by IBS is being more reactive . I think I changed a few supplements and I stopped taking one for the gut called Antrantil. That was helping me immensely ? Don’t know why my doctor 👩🏻‍⚕️ told me to stop it. I’m doing a LowFOD map diet right now!

Yup. I'm on both the FODMAP and GERD diets. The only food group I've been able to add in is a moderate amount of lactose. I honestly have switched my approach from re-adding foods to "How far can I push this without completely messing up my system today" 😂. I'm desperate lol. I add collagen to my food, and take a ton of vitamins and supplements (malabsorption, especially when I eat against FODMAP). My favorite meal is fish with rice now because it's no FODMAP in it, and it's quick and easy. I recently tried a bit of liquid smoke and some soy sauce in a marinade for the fish and it was incredible! Teriyaki fish + noodles + butter + a little parmesan cheese + red wine cooked mushrooms = delicious. Also, have you tried Lactaid milk? It's weird at first, but decent. I was told by my nutritionist that Pro Nourish shakes from Walmart are low FODMPA
