Managing Fear and Overstimulation

Hi! I’m glad there are so many people who go through similar things I do. How do you guys manage fear? I am terrified of a lot of things and get overwhelmed by too much stimulation. How do you handle it?

We've been encouraged to carry a couple stress toy, but my favorite tip is to do something that is fun. Think of it like 'i love this song and i don't have time for nonsense'. I'm not sure how else to explain it.

That is a good idea! Thank you so much. I’ll try framing it that way as well, whenever I’m doing my favorite things

I get really bad paranoia, especially at night. I usually just try to distract myself which probably isn't the best coping mechanism but y'know it works 😭

I didn’t even know that wasn’t the best coping mechanism 😳 Yeah I similarly have really awful paranoia at night which then translates into insomnia.. If I find any useful info ill let you know!

something i found really helpful for my fears/phobias is running towards them. challenge them, and show them who is boss! its basically the DARE method (which is super interesting and really helpful for me) theres a whole book and app for it thats extremely user friendly and informative!

yesss i tried this years ago with my death delusion. I physically felt like i was dying and heard voices confirming that i was, i used to panic feeling my body decompose until i listened to my inner voice and welcomed the feeling of dying, decomposing and coming back to life 😂 the symptoms eventually disappeared after a year
