Managing T1D and Mental Health: Seeking Advice

How do you guys deal with the stress of managing your condition? I’ve been a T1D for over ten years and only recently has it started to really affect my mental health. Any advice on how to stay positive?

Personally, I remind myself that I’m doing the best I can. And find a community such as this one where we can acknowledge that type 1 can absolutely suck at times, but we can get through it together. We are all human and none of us are perfect, so we have to do the best we can!

So make sure you remind yourself that whoever is or was helping you manage it will never fully fully understand what it is you are going through. Unless whoever it is has it. So when they are telling you different things remember that you know your body better than anyone and that they haven't walked in your shoes so they dont fully understand. I hope that helps and makes sense. It helps me whenever im getting stressed out and pissed at people who are just trying to make sure im okay:)

I remind myself that my feelings are valid no matter what my blood sugar is, and I take time to relax when I can’t concentrate
