Seeking Advice on Medication Options for Anxiety, Depression, and ADHD

What medication(s) are people with these same issues taking? Effexor is making me feel crazy. I was on paxil but it wasn't working well anymore. I need an antidepressant and adhd medication to go along with my anxiety medicine. Any suggestions that I can bring up to my psychiatrist?

I had a TERRIBLE time with effexor, I did ok for a bit and then it started making me sick every single day no matter if I ate or not, I could guarantee I'd lose my breakfast before getting to work. I've been on cymbalta for like 5 years now and it's done great for me but I CANNOT forget to take it or I get terrible withdrawal side effects. I take clonidine for anxiety and I'm on gabapentin for pain which has also helped A LOT with my anxiety. For ADHD I've done well on Adderall XR in the morning and IR in the afternoons.

Don't take med advice from people when it comes to the brain. The best thing to do is to tell your psychiatrist to do a genesite test. That way you'll have a list of different meds in the form of a packet that you can go off of if you need to find a medication more compatible for you.

I take a lot- but for those specifically I take Lamotrigine (for the mood stabilization for Bipolar depression) Bupropion XL, Fluoxetine, Hydroxyzine (sometimes Clonazepam) and Vyvanse. They work for me. But as said above, everyone is different and talking to your doctor is the best bet, just write down your symptoms and side effects and what not and where you would like to see some changes. Your psychiatrist should be able to help! It’s what they’re there for. Also, yea, genesite test too would be helpful. It took a long while to get there and the ride sucks until you find something that works. Just hang in there. Have an honest and open convo with your psych. Lay it all out there!

What stonesoup said is the best, its probably different from everyone else. I'm on dex & effexor personally, but work with your psychiatrist to find one that works best. I had to try a lot of meds throughout the years and even though this combination isn't perfect, it worked the best.
