Can't Stop Dreaming About Mental Hospital

I went to a mental hospital for the first time last month and now I keep having dreams where I go back, I know I'm in the dream and I control some of it but I can't control all of it. last night I had a dream where we had to move hospitals 10 hours away for some reason and I would never get to see my family, I wake up panicking and I don't know how to make them stop

I get that, ever since I came out of residential I’ve had usually bad dreams about going back. I use doxasozin to help with PTSD nightmares in general, but prazosin also works well for a lot of people. Whatever dream you have, just remind yourself that it’s not real ❤️ Although the feelings you have during the dream ARE real, so be kind to yourself 💕

I've never been in a mental hospital but I still get nightmares about it and get super anxious just thinking, etc...

I’m sorry you are dealing with this. I went to a mental hospital as a teen and saw and heard so many traumatizing things. I sometimes think that I’m either good at repressing those memories or pretending that it was a dream. I went to therapy afterwards and had a great therapist that helped me a ton - I would recommend finding a therapist that cares and helps❤️ make sure that you have someone you trust to talk about the experience as well as find ways to relieve anxiety and maybe reframe those dreams- you are in control. The hospitals are terrible especially for children and it’s an awful feeling to feel trapped. You can also try in your mind or in your dreams to imagine yourself pulling yourself out of that situation and reminding yourself that you are free and okay and that you have people that care about you.
