Looking for a Friend Who Understands My Mental Illness

How long have you used this app and do you find it helpful? I’m newly diagnosed bipolar and ptsd. I’ve actually had bipolar since I was about 15 that’s when they first tried to diagnose me but my mom never got me the help I needed and told me I was fine. I have been struggling a lot lately with my mental illness and the one thing about it is that I don’t really have anyone who can truly understand what I live with inside my head and I was hoping to find people like that on this app that can talk with me about these things that other around me wouldn’t get. I’ve struggled my whole life with trying to have friends and that’s something I really want in my life is a true friend I can talk with and be myself with someone that understands me and I don’t have to wear my fake smile all the time because they actually know the real me and what I fight everyday.

Can you help? Connect today

I think it's helpful. You can just rant on here and people get you and that's what we need sometimes. I understand how you feel. I'm always in my head too and sometimes I don't like who I am bc I switch back and forth and get really angry for no reason a lot. If you need to talk, I'm here.

thank you a lot of the time I feel alone because I’m always stuck in my head with no one around me to really understand. My husband is very supportive and tries to help best he can but he don’t always understand why I’m in a mood or why I’m being the way I’m being sometimes and sometimes it’s hard to explain it to him

Welcome! I've been on this app for a few months and have really appreciated and enjoyed it. Lots of nice people on here that can relate and commiserate. I myself have been diagnosed with Bipolar disorder for 25 years and have dealt with its symptoms and triggers since I was a kid. Been dealing with PTSD since my dad passed away and I was in an abusive relationship. If you'd ever like to talk, I'm available and open to meeting new people. Hope you have a good day!😁

Yes this post is so real, I feel like because of BD making and maintaining friends has been so difficult and no one really understands tbh in my experience even those who have other mental illnesses even same illness can be dismissive cuz everyone is so wrapped up in their own head but it's nice to have a place where you can read how similar people are to you and just get a reminder that we're all human and feel the same things every once in a while. Feel free to reach out! 💙
