Nervous about upcoming GI surgery

we finally had an appointment with a GI surgeon who was recommended through an EDS clinic that took around 2 years of a waiting list to get into. he says that i can get a GJ tube + a G-POEM that's done with botox first before trying anything more permanent just incase it doesn't work out for me. im very nervous about surgery, but it's done in a minimally invasive way specifically endoscopic so there should be less wounds to worry about healing and hurting. i'm relieved to be able to get steady nutrition, but i am nervous about the pain and healing process and just medical anxieties in general. regular anxiety + medical PTSD has been so rough the past few years, but i am hoping this is a step forward finally at least even a baby step

I’m glad you were able to see a surgeon! Especially one that has experience with EDS. Last month I got a J tube placed and a pyloroplasty. So neither of the exact procedures you’re getting haha but similar, and I have had smooth recoveries and good results. I hope the same will be for you! I have had two rounds of botox in the past and found it helpful. I completely understand the anxiety and medical trauma. I really hope things go well and you get some relief. Good luck 💕

I have a GJ and it's saved my life. I haven't had the other surgery you mentioned but tube feeding has saved my life and I'm very grateful to have steady nutrition. Please reach out to me if you need someone to talk to about GI stuff or just anything.
