Why won't my new doctor prescribe me more Xanax?

I would like to know Why my new doctor want give me more Xanax ? With my old doctor I was on them three times a day and it worked now I have to take 1 Xanax a day and 4 other medication for anxiety

It's hard for them to perscribe even tho there are people who don't abuse then. I'm on klonapin 2x a day and it helps immensely...not as strong as Xanax

It's FDA standards now....they are much more strict as well. Hope this helps

Most doctors won’t prescribe benzos for daily use because the 1) they are super addictive 2) the withdrawals can be fatal if not tapered correctly. Generally speaking there are better ways to manage anxiety that don’t involve controlled medications. Weekly Therapy is essential. You’ll be very hard pressed to find a doctor who will let you go back up to 4 Xanax/day unless your anxiety is super super severe and completely debilitating. I would recommend talking with your doctor or asking for a referral to a second psychiatrist for a different opinion. Good luck and I hope you feel better!!

Thank for your comments. It just seems like that is the only thing that works on me now They have me on five kinds of medication I feel it does not help
