Non-prescription remedies for insomnia?

Has anyone with insomnia found anything that helps them fall asleep that’s not a prescription med? I tried melatonin, which only worked sometimes, Benadryl, which is my backup when I run out of gummies, and currently have been using edibles (gummies), which have helped me a LOT. Any other experiences or recommendations?

The more aerobic activity I get throughout the day, the better I can fall asleep.

Only thing that has worked for me is prescription drugs, strong ones. Or being so exhausted that I can't stay awake. I think insomnia is a huge problem. Partly cause it is so difficult to treat!

I've recently been listening to the Huberman lab podcast. More specifically the ones dedicated to mental health and sleep. I've really been learning a lot about sleep and how to approach it differently. I'm still learning, but it has given me a lot more tool to work with and a better understanding of the mechanics behind it all. That type of learning may not be for everyone but it definitely helping me. ❤️

RachaelV is totally right. At least for me, that’s my go to if I’m having trouble falling asleep or can’t seem to stay asleep. If it’s not legal in your area, CBD is also pretty helpful. Plus it’ll help with soreness and joint pain if you deal with those.

I take CBD gummies infused with melatonin. Expensive but they work really well for me!

Also try ONLY being in your bed when you’re trying to sleep. If you can’t sleep, get out of bed and try again in a half hour. If possible, don’t hang out in bed or watch tv in bed. That way your brain will associate bed with sleep only

Magnesium glycinate paired with micro doses of melatonin!

It's no substitute for meds which I do take but I have found that finding a bedtime meditation on YouTube and really focusing on breathing and relaxing helps.
