Numbness in Feet with Type 2 Diabetes

I have been experience numbness in my feet when I go out for a walk. I have tried compression socks and that seems to alleviate some of the issues. Also use massage gun on calves as well as compression treatments. Anyone have any suggestions to alleviate the numbness or is this something I need to learn to live with due to type 2 diagnosis?
