Diagnosed with OCD, seeking advice on symptoms

I was diagnosed with OCD today due to my fear of germs/excessive hand washing. I don’t know much about OCD, but after doing some research, I am discovering I have more than one symptom. What are some OCD behaviors you all suffer from?

Can you help? Connect today

Continuously washing my hands, checking to make sure the light is off, and making sure the fridge is properly closed. Those are just some examples of my repeated routines. Lol

Hello!! I've been diagnosed with OCD since I was 6. I'm 25 now and have been through way too much bc of my OCD. If you would like to talk feel free to inbox me! My OCD came in different phases which I would be happy to explain further!:) 💕

skin picking, hair pulling (i have a bunch of sores and painful ingrowns on my armpits because of this), intrusive thoughts (pocd used to be a terrible issue), counting, performing rituals so a bad situation won’t happen (i.e. reaching the microwave before it beeps so my mother doesn’t die in a car crash), and so much more. i’ve only been recently diagnosed, but i realized that it impacts every aspect of my life.

My symptoms are skin picking (dermatillomania), rhythmic teeth grinding, “typing” with my fingers when I get a phrase or word stuck in my head, being very particular and organized and having a lot of anxiety when someone around me is being sloppy or messy, physical tics, and probably a few more I haven’t thought of

Also hella intrusive thoughts, which I didn’t know was a semi normal thing until recently!

I count, pick at my skin, repeat myself (mostly in text messages)

A lot of intrusive thoughts about death that make me do stuff like flip the lights on and off 20 times, go back up the stairs twice or not doing things out of order. I have rules to how I do most of everything. From taking a shower to eating a sandwich. My thoughts say that something bad will happen if I don’t follow those rules.

Oh, another thing is I’m very ritualistic about how I eat things. Numbers of bites, counting my chews before I can swallow, having to eat two of anything small at a time (like candies), having to chew on each side equally or in equal patterns, eating certain parts of meals first (veggies always first, then protein, then carbs) specific bite patterns on food items like sandwiches. Once I find a specific meal or drink I like, I stick to it and it takes a lot to get me to branch out. Maybe that part is just be being a picky eater though 😅

skin and hair (trich and dermatillamania), i have a thing for odd numbers, i used to have to step a certain way on the sidewalk, thoughts that are mildly intruding, organizing a specific way, and anxiety

Intrusive thoughts. My OCD isn’t really limited to specific behaviors excluding a few with doors and clothes but I have a ton of intrusive thoughts that lead me to my OCD diagnoses.

Mine include intrusive thoughts, having a routine for everything or something bad will happen, needing to have things organized and having frequencies in my head
