Overcoming Emetophobia and Panic Attacks

I have major emetophobia and get panic attacks when I start to feel nauseous. Any tips on how to overcome this?

I also have emetephobia! Have had it for 20years. It's been up and down for me. But lately I've started on an anxiety medication and am doing EMDR therapy

Can you tell me about EMDR therapy? 🙏

It essentially re processes 'trauma' to where you wont fear it as much. There's a really good website to find providers. It's EMDRIA.ORG or .com

My son and I both have emetophobia. I’m 62 and have not thrown up since I was nine, my son is 25 and he has never thrown up in his whole life.

My goodness! How do you avoid it? Every time I’m even slightly nauseous I’m sent into full blown panic

I also have it! I usually do things that help me relax in the moment (most of it for me is just anxiety) Warm baths, heating pad, laying down on left side, sound machine, essential oils, etc. the more calm I am the better I feel. (I have IBS which flares from stress)

I have IBS too! It’s been on the worse side lately. I find that when I get nauseous like that I get tunnel vision and can’t even concentrate on things to calm myself down. I’ll just sit there panicking until it stops

Not sure how to help but here to tell you that you’re not alone. Any stomach sensation can set me off. We will get through this.
